Homogeneous machine,
But as a chorus diverse,
Singing and listening,
To each other’s songs,
By turns.

Together,
Against all comers,
A infinitely quartered shield,
Shattering spears,
Over our multitude,
Our unity,
Our vision.

Together,
Never alone,
In empathic difference,
Is how we will win.
Never let them separate you,
Sister from brother,
From one another.

Addendum I wrote this because it’s really important not just to think about how dysfunctional the world is, it’s also important to point to the ways we can fight back. Individually it’s not possible to radically change things, and thinking you can is a recipe for crushing disappointment. Even though movements may have phenomenal leaders, and individuals, it’s the weight of people behind them that gives them power.
