My Dad Said…

My dad said,
He’d rather spend the day in bed.
“There’s nothing good outside,
I’m staying in here to hide.”

He went on to say,
“I’d sooner loll about today”
Though we remonstrated with him,
He just refused to give in!

“We need breakfast!”
We cajoled, we harassed.
“No, you know where the cereal is,
I’m happy here, just like this.”

He wouldn’t move though we begged,
So we took him by his arms and his legs,
We pulled and pulled, huffed and puffed,
And eventually had to give up!

My dad said,
He’d rather spend the day in bed.
“I can’t face the world so I’ll stay,
Try again another day.”
