I give
Apr 12, 2021
I give a fragment of myself to you,
As we all do,
Snap a piece off at a time,
Ever more, over time.
Because, ultimately,
We all want to give ourselves away,
To not know who we are,
Without each other.
Some may even give your pieces back,
Tarnished, never fully whole.
You may decorate the slivers returned,
But no sequins or glitter will make them fit to give again.
And yet, give again you must,
Or what are you but a parody of life?
You cannot be without friends.
You are not whole, if not broken.
