Groan Up

Though we grumble, never doubt that you are loved.
Grown ups frighten easy,
Sometimes we may seem tough,
But really,
Helpless, we may never fully explain,
All the things
that
vex
our
brain.

And so when things go wrong, we may shout,
Because,
In panic,
Lessons make more sense delivered at volume…
And yet we strive, in our hearts, to be better,
Though our brains may appear to be on vacation,
Humour us,
be patient.

Because we were small once too,
Once we knew no better; it’s true
And honestly, at times,
We suspect little has changed,
That, deep down,
We’re still the same.

It’s just hard to own up,
When you’re the grown up

Another parenting one… I think it’s one of the most challenging things to keep your cool all the time. I rarely lose my rag but when I do it’s often more about something else rather than the misbehaviour. All the stress and strain of modern life tends come out in all kinds of unhelpful ways.
